If you don’t take care of your body, where else are you going to live?
Jim Rohn, extraordinary business teacher, philosopher and mentor to millions around the world asked that question.
So how did you feel when you woke up this morning?
Energized? Rested? As strong and fit as you’d like to be? Happy? Clear minded? Ready to take on your day?
The quality of the food we consume has a lot to do with our answers. I didn’t realize the relationship between food and dis-ease for many years. I enjoyed life, ate what I wanted, the sun came up and I was out the door. My body worked until it didn’t. Once I lost my health, all I wanted was to get it back. Can you relate? And this experience got me curious. What can I do to not only feel better, but to live life to the fullest?
That’s when I learned that food is fuel and what we consume shapes the quality of our lives; in particular, high quality fruits, vegetables and berries can defend our trillions of cells from being damaged every second of our day. Did you know that EACH of our cells is hit 10,000 times a day with oxidative stress and that cell can either ward off the hit or be damaged? Eventually that leads to disease in our body. That’s why all our health agencies recommend eating 9-13 servings of a variety of fruits, vegetables and berries daily. They contain 1,000s of plant chemicals that protect us. This is powerfully crucial information. We have in our hands the “nutritional seatbelt” to help us weather illness and stay healthy so we can continue to enjoy life.
If you are feeling “okay” or “fine” with your health, I’m like to share this analogy a friend told me recently. What would happen if you drove your car with low tire pressure day in and day out? Of course, your car is still working. For a long time you wouldn’t notice any difference, but your mileage won’t be as good as it could be and, eventually, you are going to damage your tires and your car in general.
Our bodies are the same way.
I’d like to put out a friendly challenge to you, to increase your servings of green veggies by two. If you’d like a delicious green smoothie recipe that my family loves, contact me.
We’re coming up to the season between Halloween and Super Bowl. ER doctors tell me this is one of their busiest times to see people coming in with cardiac emergencies. We do consume a lot more goodies with high sugar and fat during this time, but did you know that there is blood flow constriction after a high fat meal? I sure didn’t. Another reason to eat more fruits and veggies! If you can’t or won’t, I’d like to share a link to an example of the heart health benefits of eating a variety of concentrated fruit, veggie and berries in the form of Juice Plus+ capsules. In this University of Maryland study, (one of 31 peer-reviewed published studies), research subjects who consumed Juice Plus+ were better able to maintain the normal, healthy elasticity of arteries, even after a high-fat meal. http://lindameyers.juiceplus.com/content/JuicePlus/en/clinical-research/juice-plus-clinical-research.html#.Uknkmrzag7A
And if you haven’t heard the exciting results of our Children’s Health Study whereby children between the ages of 4 and 18 and full-time college students can get their Juice Plus+ for free, click on: http://www.childrenshealthstudy.com/
Wishing you the very best of health!
