Congratulations to the 2014 Karaoke World Championship USA National Finals 1st Place winners who will be going to Stockholm, Sweden to represent the USA at the Karaoke World Championships.

Murrieta Resident Represents USA on World Stage

She is talented, young, generous and beautiful, and she is on her way to Sweden. Murrieta resident, Miriam Kim, the USA’s female karaoke champion, will be competing against singers from 29 countries in Stockholm from November 13 through November 15. Competitions are nothing new for the single mother who earned the title of Female Karaoke Champion of the United States for the second consecutive year during the competitions held in Fort Worth Texas in October. Now she is on her way to Scandinavia, along with the USA’s male karaoke champion, Anthony McGee of Arkansas.

Her path to the US championship this year included local, regional and state competitions, culminating in the national championships where she competed as the California champion, and only California representative, along with sixty contestants representing states from across the country. Astounding both the audience and the judges with her impressive and impassioned rendition of Celine Dion’s “I Surrender”, Miriam secured her second national title in as many years and secured her place as this country’s representative for the international competition.

While the competition may be half a world away, you can watch Miriam and the other contestants perform via the competition website which will stream the competitions live from Stockholm on November 13, 14 and 15, starting at 7AM Pacific Time (4PM in Stockholm); log onto www.karaokeworldchampionships.com/live. Miriam will sing the same song that earned her the US championship during the completion, but will sing a new song for the finals; she declined to identify that song saying, “It will be a surprise. You will have to watch the competition.”

Taking on the international travel which includes a 17 ½ hour flight from southern California to Stockholm (with a layover and transfer in London), and staying in a foreign City and Country is as challenging for the young, single woman as is competing on a world stage, so she is traveling with a companion, a close friend. Unfortunately, the US championship only includes travel for the winner, so Miriam has been raising funds to pay her companion’s way to Sweden. If you wild like to support Miriam in her quest to represent Murrieta and the US to the world by helping to defray her travel expenses, you can make a contribution by logging on to http://www.gofundme.com/fyey0c. You can also leave her a message of support and encouragement on her Facebook page.

For those of us who will not be in Sweden to watch the competitions, but who may want to see Miriam Kim perform live in Murrieta, she will be performing at the IVBCF Annual Awards Celebration on December 3 at Bear Creek Golf Club. Go to www.ivbcf.com/events for information and tickets. Miriam has a long history of donating her time and immeasurable singing talents to support IVBCF (The Inland Valley Business and Community Foundation) by performing at several events including the annual IVBCF Spring Fashion Show. She plans to perform there once again this spring saying, “I can’t wait for the next Fashion Show, I look forward to it every year”.

Miriam is a source of pride for Murrieta and the entire Temecula Valley region, representing the area on an international stage and showing the entire world that Southwest Riverside County produces more than great wine, it produces world class people.
